Funders Concerned About AIDS Welcomes New Board Leadership

FCAA is pleased to announce the election of four new members to its Board of Directors. We are excited and honored to have Florence Thune (Sidaction), Jesse Milan (AIDS United), Dan Williams (the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta) and Stan Wong (the Levi Strauss Foundation) join us in our efforts to educate stakeholders on the state of funding, existing needs, and the gaps between the two.

The newest members of the FCAA Board are each proven leaders in their fields and bring unique perspectives to the organization:

  • As the Executive Director of Sidaction, Florence Thune helps fund research, prevention and care projects in more than 20 countries. In addition, her organization provides technical assistance and capacity building, access to prevention and care for key-affected populations and human and financial resources management. Sidaction is also actively involved in advocacy, at both the national and international level, working to influence public policy and support partner organizations.
  • Dan Williams serves as Program Officer on the Community Intelligence Team at the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. Overseeing the investment of Foundation resources in a portfolio focused on a healthy, safe and engaged region, Dan works to ensure that all residents have access to quality health care and nutritious food. As part of this work, Dan manages the Atlanta AIDS Fund, supporting HIV/AIDS advocacy, prevention education and service efforts through funding and leadership.
  • A national expert on HIV, Jesse Milan has been living with HIV for over 30 years. As President and CEO of AIDS United, he oversees a national organization focused on grant-making, policy and capacity building with the mission of ending AIDS in the US. AIDS United has granted over $104 million to local communities during its 30-year history, including over $5 million to 150 current grantees spanning 35 states.
  • Stan Wong is the senior grants manager for Asia, Middle East and Africa at the Levi Strauss Foundation. In this capacity, he oversees the portfolio of grants driving meaningful change in the areas of HIV/AIDS, social justice, and the rights and well-being of workers in the apparel sector. Prior to joining Levi Strauss in 2007, Stan worked for ten years at amfAR, where he helped extend HIV treatment to highly affected communities in the Asia Pacific region.

At the same time that we welcome our newest members, FCAA wishes a fond farewell to someone who has been with us for many years. Though Daniel Lee, Executive Director of the Levi Strauss Foundation, has, as of 2018, moved on from his role on FCAA’s Board, he has left an indelible — and invaluable — imprint on our organization. Most importantly, he has been, and will continue to be, a driving force for progress in the fight against HIV and AIDS. We look forward to collaborating with Daniel in new ways as we collectively pursue efforts to end AIDS. Look for more about Daniel soon!

With an outstanding team in place, we look forward to a year full of progress, hope and a renewed effort to #ReigniteTheFight.
