HIV/AIDS and Aging Populations: A Funder Convening
June 19, 2008, 2:00-4:00 PM
Foundation Center, New York, NY
co-hosted by Grantmakers in Aging and Disability Funders Network
The population of older people with
HIV/AIDS continues to grow, thanks in part to progress with
life-prolonging AIDS medications, but also due to a lack of awareness
and prevention messages aimed at older people. This funder-only
convening featured a discussion of the new research on aging
populations and HIV/AIDS and its applications, policy and advocacy
issues, the experiences of service providers and aging individuals
living with HIV or AIDS, and how funders can be involved.
Teleconference accessewas available for funders who could not make the
meeting in person. A Dialogue report will be released on this topic in the fall of 2008.
