Opportunities in Vienna: 7/20 Funder Conversation on Vertical Transmission

Private funders gathered on July 20th to discuss, debate and consider oportunities for private foundations and corporate funders to contribute to the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV by 2015. Stay tuned for materials and next steps resulting from this meeting.

The Context:  UNAIDS Deputy Executive Director Jan Beagle provided an overview of the PMTCT landscape

  • Daniel Lee, Executive Director, of the Levi Strauss Foundation moderated a "talk show"style panel of PMTCT implementers.

  • Dr. Shaffiq Essajee, Former Special Advisor in Pediatrics, Clinton Health Access Initiative
  • Ms. Rolake Odetoyinbo, Campaign to End Pediatric AIDS Nigeria, Alternate Board Member Communities GFATM
Working Group Sessions: Attendees collaborated with colleagues on specific funder entry points (e.g. stigma, health systems, family planning) identified by attendees in advance of the meeting to share experiences, brainstorm new approaches, and determine next steps.
