New FCAA Member Opportunities:  Convene & Connect – Lead an FCAA Hosted Briefing in 2011

Each year FCAA convenes a number of funder briefings that provide important opportunities for FCAA’s constituency to network, share lessons learned and explore new challenges in HIV/AIDS and in the philanthropic response to the pandemic.

New for 2011, FCAA will provide the space and logistics to host up to four 1-hour funder-convened telebriefings. The design and development of these briefings will be driven by FCAA members.

• Do you have a new initiative or program in need of additional funding and/or partners? Is there a geographic region or grantee program you would like to see highlighted?
• Are there critical issues within HIV/AIDS you like to see explored further?
• Interested in taking a new leadership role within the HIV/AIDS philanthropic sector?

We invite member organizations to submit ideas for telebriefings to help engage their colleague network.

What does this mean?

1. FCAA will provide the logistics (dial-in, technology, etc.), marketing and general advisory support on selected briefings.
2. If your idea/proposed briefing is selected, your organization is responsible for agenda development and speaker outreach.
3. For those members who support FCAA at or above the “sustaining” level (see FCAA membership levels), we will also consult on the agenda development, speaker outreach, and offer an additional web conferencing technology.
4. We will give priority to submissions that feature collaboration among grantmakers and/or affinity group networks.

How to Participate

1. Submit a brief (2-4 paragraph) description of your proposed idea, including: a general overview of the idea, your goals and suggested format. For a one-hour briefing, we suggest no more than 2-3 speakers, with dedicated time for Q&A and discussion. If this is a collaborative submission, please include the names of your individual/organizational partners. [Please note, these descriptions are not final – if your idea is selected, we will help finalize it for marketing purposes.]
2. To take part in the first hosted briefing of 2011, please send the description above (and/or any questions) to Sarah@fcaaids.org by March 18th.  Our goal is to convene this first call in April or May (TBD in partnership with selected organization/s).
3. FCAA will announce calls for future hosted briefings on a quarterly basis.
