Ryan White CARE Act Reauthorization: What Funders Should Know Teleconference

January 24, 2007

Throughout the Fall of 2006, there seemed to be near consensus among many funders FCAA spoke with in reaction to the latest news about the Ryan White CARE Act reauthorization: “What does this mean, really?”  We hope to provide a forum for various experts to speak on a call to an audience of philanthropic grantmakers about what the language means, what the time-line looks like, what will change or stay the same in terms of funding with the new Act, what funding opportunities for philanthropy may result, the emerging needs of service providers and PLWHA, and what the passing of this Ryan White CARE Act means for funders’ grantees and the work on the ground.

Participants

  • Jennifer Kates, Vice President and Director, HIV Policy, The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation
  • Connie Garner, Policy Director for Disability and Special Populations for  Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP)
  • Murray Penner, Deputy Executive Director of Domestic Programs, NASTAD (National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors)
  • Patricia Nalls, Founder/Executive Director, Women’s Collective

A One-Sheet Report on this teleconference was released in May 2007. Please click here for more information about the Ryan White Program.
