Jane Stafford

Jane has extensive experience as a nonprofit and philanthropic leader, project manager, and consultant. For over 25 years, she has developed and led innovative social impact programs and organizations.

Jane joined the Public Affairs team at Gilead Sciences in 2017 where she leads Gilead’s purpose-driven work that includes corporate responsibility efforts across the globe.  Work includes engagement with global patient organizations and corporate philanthropy programs. Promoted through increasingly responsible positions to lead a team of 16 focused on grant making, data analytics, communications and ESG matters. Advises leadership teams, contributes to strategy, launches impactful signature initiatives, and builds strategic relationships with advocacy groups, policy makers and local NGO’s.   Provides oversight for a ~$300 million annual budget and portfolio of more than 1,200 partners.  

Prior to Gilead, Ms. Stafford was a consultant for the Blue Shield of California Foundation and The California Endowment but spent most of her career as the Managing Director for the Community Clinics Initiative (CCI), a unique set of partnerships with philanthropy that represented over $150 million in investments to support safety net providers throughout California.  Since 2000, Jane has worked to create both grant making and technical assistance programs in California with the goal of building a stronger field of Community Based Clinics and Health Centers.

Ms. Stafford brings over 25 years of executive, program, and development experience in not-for-profit and philanthropic organizations to her work.  She strives to support a broad social justice agenda both professionally as well as personally.

In her spare time, Jane is on the Board of Directors for some incredible non-profit organizations.  Point Source Youth, an organization that envisions a world where all young people can enjoy the right to safety, stability, and joy. Believing that youth should be trusted to direct their own lives.  ABADA Capoeira San Francisco.  ABADA is a non-profit arts organization supporting young and old alike to thrive by engaging in the artistic, cultural, and physical components of Capoeira.  Prior to joining the Board, Jane trained Capoeira for almost 20 years, and traveled to Brazil as often as she could before settling down in San Francisco with her wife and 12-year-old son.

Jane was voted to the Board of Directors in November 2022.
